ANDRĮS SCHIFF & PALLADIO at VICENZA
and Maria Stuarda at the Fenice VENICE

29 April - 5 May 2009

Shortly before he starts his well-earned sabbatical, Andrįs Schiff again gives his wonderful series of chamber, orchestral and - this year - choral concerts in the inimitable setting of Palladio's Vicenza, two in the Teatro Olimpico, which is still as built by Palladio in 1580 and one in the Basilica

Our first two nights are spent in VENICE where we inspect Palladio's church buildings and visit some of the churches and galleries. We stay at a charming hotel close to the Accademia. We then drive to VICENZA where we stay for the rest of the tour in a newly-refurbished three star hotel in the heart of the old city and across the square from the Teatro Olimpico. There will be two excursions by coach for private visits to some of the most celebrated and other less well-known villas in the region, most by special arrangement, including La Rotonda and Villas Cornaro, Barbaro and Emo. The tour is accompanied by Robert Avery and Jennifer Anderson.

Cost: £1,980  to include return flights (BA Gatwick-Venice), transfers, accommodation with breakfast 2 nights Venice 4 nights Vicenza, 2 dinners and 5 lunches, excursions and good tickets for all concerts and the opera. Single supplement £200 Venice; £60 Vicenza. Deposit £300.
