THE SCHUBERTIADE - SCHWARZENBERG 31 August - 5 September 2012

The Schubertiade in the wooded and mountainous region in the far west of Austria remains the leading lieder and chamber music festival. This year we have selected the absolutely unmissable recitals that are given in a small modern hall in the picturesque village of Schwarzenberg. We stay close by in the village of Mellau in an award-winning 4* Superior boutique spa hotel, newly rebuilt in traditional and modern style with spacious light rooms, all with balcony and wooden floors. The spa centre has indoor and outdoor pools, steam baths, massage etc. The peaceful setting is ideal as a base for walking and it is a few minutes walk to the cable car up the mountain. Dinner is at the hotel - well-known in the area for its high standard. We will have talks on the concert programmes. A shuttle bus will take us to and from the concert hall.

Cost : £1,920 includes return scheduled flights, transfers, 5 nights bed and buffet breakfast in twin-bedded room with private facilities at Mellau, good tickets (front stalls) for 5 concerts, transfers and excursions, 5 dinners. Single supplement £100. Deposit £300pp
