THE SCHUBERTIADE - SCHWARZENBERG
17 - 22 June / 22 - 28 June
17- 28 June 2009

The Schubertiade in the wooded and mountainous region in the far west of Austria remains the leading lieder and chamber music festival. This year we have selected 16 unmissable recitals that are given in a small modern hall in the picturesque village of Schwarzenberg. We stay at the next village, Bezau, at the head of a beautiful valley, with chalets, shops, ski-lifts and a narrow-gauge steam railway. Our family-run hotel there has been offering hospitality to visitors since 1648 and combines regional period charm with the latest facilities. It has recently opened a new spa centre with indoor and outdoor pools, steam baths, massage etc. Pleasant modern bedrooms open onto a garden with a heated swimming pool and tennis courts. The peaceful setting is ideal as a base for walking. Dinner is at the hotel - well-known in the area for its high standard - or at an equally special restaurant in Schwarzenberg. A shuttle bus will take us to and from the concert hall.
